Multiple Hiker Rescues and Fire Update

Skamania County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue (SAR) teams rescued an injured hiker on Hamilton Mountain Trail on July 27, 2026, and another at Snagtooth Falls on July 10.

The SAR team also rescued a hiker who fell ill near Mount St. Helens on July 25 and assisted with a medical rescue on Dog Mountain on August 1. Two missing children were located near Goose Lake on July 26.

The High Lava Fire, burning within the Gifford area, is being monitored by Skamania County Emergency Management as of August 3, 2026. The National Night Out event in Stevenson will be held on August 4 from 6-8 PM.
