Multiple Rescue Operations Reported

The Skamania County Sheriff's Office reported multiple search and rescue operations and investigations in August and July 2026.

Rescue teams responded to an injured hiker on Hamilton Mountain Trail on July 27, a medical emergency on Dog Mountain on August 1, and a hiker who fell ill near Mount St. Helens on July 25. The Sheriff's Office also located two missing children near Goose Lake on July 26 and concluded a months-long search for a missing Oregon man near U. S. Forest Service Road 25 on July 21.

The Sheriff's Office continues to monitor the High Lava Fire in Gifford Pinchot National Forest as of August 3. The agency also announced an upcoming National Night Out event on August 4 in Stevenson for families to connect with law enforcement.
