The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office announced on July 5, 2026, that Telecommunicator Joanne Wallace successfully completed the Field Training Officer (FTO) program.

Wallace began her career in the Sheriff’s Office communications department and earned the FTO certification after completing specialized training. The FTO program prepares staff to train new telecommunicators in emergency response protocols.

The Sheriff’s Office reported a continued decline in search and rescue missions for June 2026, marking the fourth consecutive month of reduced activity. This trend follows decreases in April and May 2026, as documented in previous reports.
