🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

Skamania County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue (SAR) Team has conducted several rescues of injured hikers in the past month.

The most recent rescue occurred on July 10, 2026, when the SAR team rescued an injured hiker at Snagtooth Falls. Earlier rescues included an injured hiker on Hamilton Mountain Trail on July 27, 2026, and a hiker who fell ill in the Mt. St. Helens area on July 25, 2026. The SAR team also rescued a hiker on Dog Mountain on August 1, 2026.

These rescues highlight the ongoing need for search and rescue services in Skamania County's rugged terrain. The Sheriff's Office is recruiting new SAR members with no experience required.
