Skamania County Council approved $269,185 for restoration of the 160-year-old Slocum House in Stevenson. The project aims to preserve the historic structure, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The council's decision follows a public hearing on July 26. The funds will cover structural repairs and exterior restoration. The Slocum House is located at 123 Main Street in Stevenson and serves as a community landmark.
The upgrade is part of the county's ongoing preservation efforts for historic properties. County staff will begin planning the work in August.
